RAJAHMUNDRY: Lok Sabha member from Rajahmundry, Mrs D Purandeswari had urged the Centre to for restoration and holistic development in Kuchipudi village in Andhra Pradesh, which is the birthplace of the renowned classical dance form, Kuchipudi-transforming it to a global cultural heritage destination, Kuchipudi village home to numerous hereditary artists and historical landmarks dating back to 16 th century, currently lacks adequate infrastructure and presentation measures.
Stating further, Rajahmundry MP explained, “Establishing modern facilities like state-of-the-art performing art centres, museums, recording studios, and visitor amnesties will protect this invaluable heritage. She further explained, “Empowering the local community, particularly women and youth, through skill development in costume making, Jewellery design, and other related crafts will sustain sustainable livelihood and economic growth. Additionally, she said that digitations of manuscripts archival material, audio-video recordings, and cultural artefacts’ are essential to preserve Kuchipudi rich legacy for future generations. She has expressed hope that recognition as UNESCO World Heritage site would significantly enhance global visibility, tourism opportunities and International vibrations of India’s vibrant culture. She strongly urged the Centre to extend its full support, including financial assistance and infrastructural backing, to turn Kuchipudi village into a global cultural attraction. She clarified that this initiative aligns perfectly with our nation vision of preserving heritage, boosting tourism and fostering inclusive economical empowerment at the grassroots level.
