Chandigarh police constable suspended after wife ‘stopped traffic’ to make reel

CHANDIGARH: In a dramatic turn of events, the husband of a woman who allegedly stopped traffic to make a reel, was suspended Monday.The incident took place on March 20 in Sector 20 of the UT.Police investigation revealed that the video, which had gone viral since, was uploaded from the social media account of her husband, Ajay Kundu, a constable. The suspension came amid revelations of serious shortcomings in the conduct of the officer, a resident of Police Colony in Sector-20. On March 20, his wife Jyoti was reportedly dancing to a Haryanvi song near the zebra crossing at Gurdwara Chowk with vehicles parked in the vicinity, while her sister-in-law Pooja was filming the performance. Bystanders also captured the moment on their phones, making the reel viral. The woman's actions disrupted the traffic flow and posed potential safety hazards, including the risk of accidents, alleged Jasbir, head constable of police station-34. He lodged an FIR against her for obstructing traffic and endangering public safety.She was summoned for questioning and later released on bail. Jyoti had, in her defence, clarified that they shot the video when the signal was red and vehicles were not moving.
