VARANASI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Bansdih in Ballia district Ketakee Singh said if Muslims have a problem with Holi, Diwali, Ram Navami celebrations, then they can also have issues with being offered treatment in medical facilities where Hindus are treated. Hence, Muslims should be treated at a separate wing in the hospitals.
The MLA said she will demand chief minister
Yogi Adityanath to set up a separate wing for Muslims in the proposed medical college of Ballia.
She reached Ballia after the Yogi cabinet on Monday approved the free transfer of 14.05 acres of land from Ballia district jail to the medical education department for establishing a medical college. She said, "If they (Muslims) have problems in the celebration of Holi, Diwali, Ram Navami, and other festivals, they might feel problems in getting treated with Hindus in the same wing of the hospital. Hence, a separate wing should be made for them."
During her maiden visit to the district after approval for the medical college, she said, "To ensure that they do not encounter problems while receiving treatment alongside others, I appeal through the media to Maharaj Ji (CM Yogi) that since there is already significant expenditure, a separate building and wing should be constructed for them to receive treatment there."
"It will also help Hindus to ensure that they are not getting medicine or anything with anyone's spit in it," she said.
The Yogi cabinet on Monday gave approval for the transfer of the district jail's land to the medical education department at its meeting in Lucknow as part of the govt's move to establish a medical college in every district of the state. The cabinet also approved a proposal to name the proposed medical college after legendary freedom fighter Chittu Pandey and install his statue on the campus.
The process to build a medical college on Ballia district jail's land had started with shifting of its inmates to Azamgarh and Mau jails in July 2024.
