'Jaya Bachchan should be arrested': VHP's demand on SP leader's 'dead bodies in Maha Kumbh waters' remark
NEW DELHI: Vishva Hindu Parishad has demanded the arrest of Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan over her 'dead bodies in Pragyaraj river' remark after the Maha Kumbh stampede that led to the death of over 30 devotees.
"Jaya Bachchan should be arrested for spreading sensation by giving false and untrue statements," VHP media in-charge Sharad Sharma said.
"Maha Kumbh is the backbone of faith and devotion where one attains Dharma, Karma and Moksha. The sentiments of crores of devotees are attached to this great ritual," he added.
Bachchan had, on Monday, had alleged that the Kumbh water bodies were the most contaminated as the dead bodies from the stampede were being thrown in the river.
"... Where is the water most contaminated right now? It's in Kumbh. Bodies (of those who died in the stampede) have been thrown in the river because of which the water has been contaminated...," the SP MP had said
"The real issues are not being addressed. The common people visiting Kumbh are not receiving any special treatment, there is no arrangement for them. They are lying that crores of people have visited the place, how can such a large number of people gather in that place at any given point?..." she asked.

The Yogi Adityanath administration has been questioned by several MPs for meeting out a "VIP" treatment to celebrities while ignoring the safety of the commons, alleging it as the cause of the stampede.
